Spring Decorating Tips...
By - Julea Joseph, Reinventing Space
Just when you’re ready to repeat the end-of-winter mantra “I’m so tired
of winter,” a faint warm wind brushes your cheek, blue skies peak from
behind a gray cloud, and the hue of green begins to color the hard brown
earth. Spring is here, and will bring with it - a change of energy,
optimism, and new life.
Bring that joie de vivre into your own home by exchanging winter’s rich
colors, holiday fragrances, and heavy fabrics with soft pastel hues,
fresh light scents, and natural fibers.
Take a trip to the local gardening center for inspiration, and pick up a
pot or bouquet of sweet smelling spring blooms such as tulips,
hyacinths, freesias or jonquils to adorn a table. Buy an exterior flat
bottomed wire or wood window box, and “plant” an array of potted plants
for a fresh, and definitely out-side-the-box floral arrangement.
Use a door dressing mirror as the table runner to brighten and reflect
the arrangement (the glass will also serve to protect your surface.)
Clean out those linen closets, and tuck in a few sprays of dried
lavender to refresh the space, and swap out old tired candles for pale
pastels evoking our senses of spring.
Try shopping around your own home or at your favorite store for a few
new linen or spring inspired pillows to give your seating a boost.
Retire those heavy throws for silk or cotton in Easter egg colors.
Paintings, photos or heirloom treasures with spring themes or motifs can
be brought into accessory rotation to refresh your tables, bookcases and
shelves and tell a story of this season. Garden décor, faux bird’s
nests, and cages available at hobby stores can make any table vignette
special for spring.
At the end of winter our senses are in need of a boost Bring spring into
your home, and celebrate the season of renewal!
Julea’s “Good Bones” accessories are quick change artists;

multiple ways. Readily available at any store, these tried and true
pieces can make decorating a breeze. An all time favorite is a large,
tall, hurricane vase. This vase can showcase each season with in an
array of ways. For the spring season, fill the vase with colorful wood
eggs, a display of long stemmed tulips, willow branches or forsythia and
showcase it on your foyer table. Take your arrangement one step further,
and float fruit within the water for an extra punch of seasonal color.
